How Gallstones Form:
Imbalance in Bile Components: The most common type of gallstones is cholesterol stones. These form when there’s too much cholesterol in the bile. Normally, bile contains chemicals that dissolve cholesterol. But when there’s too much cholesterol or too little bile, it can crystallize and form stones.
Bile Stasis: Sometimes, bile doesn’t empty properly from the gallbladder. This can happen if the gallbladder doesn’t contract as it should, leading to a build-up of bile. When bile sits in the gallbladder for too long, it can become concentrated, and crystals can form.
